No Matter What, Pray for Healing
Healing. This is one of those subjects that seem to be very subjective. It depends on who you ask.
As a pastor who has served many people and families, I have my share of stories I can share about healing. We prayed and some people lived. We prayed and some people died.
I can’t give you the reason why some lived and why some died. And for those who didn’t make it, I like others miss them dearly. But what I can tell you is that no matter the situation I will pray for healing.
It does not matter what the medical people say because they are human. I respect and appreciate their work. In fact, before becoming a pastor I had thought about becoming a doctor, nurse, pharmacist or something in medicine. I have a degree from one of the best universities in Science. So I am not being ignorant when I say, science is real and medicine works.
But I also know that God is real and he works too.
When the medical people give us their report and thoughts on our diagnosis they are doing their job. That’s what they are supposed to do - give you the details about what they know about our situation.
But, I have to believe that if God is the one who created me, he must know my body better than anyone else. That’s not just a statement that is a conviction. The Bible says “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).
That is why no matter what I will pray for healing because there are countless stories of people in the Bible who did and were healed.
If they say you have a terminal illness, pray like Hezekiah and plead with God.
If you are on the verge of death, pray and believe just like Jesus did for Jairus, and was healed.
If you have a skin disease, have faith like the ten lepers and were healed.
If you have been sick for many years, just like the woman who bled for 12 years have faith and pray for healing.
If your sickness is a spiritual attack by the enemy, like Job and Paul, pray for God to heal you.
If you are sick because of sin, confess your sin to God as James instructs us to do and we can be made well.
Therefore, no matter the source.
No matter the reason.
No matter how long.
No matter how bad it is, pray for healing and by God’s grace and mercy the situation you are facing can be changed.
And that is why the Bible says “Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well" James 5: 13-15).
God's word is clear: pray. And when you pray, have faith. And when you pray have faith in Jesus, the One can heal.
What situation do you need to pray for?
Who do you need to pray for?
Whatever it is, pray for healing.
Prayer: Father we believe that you are good and you hear our prayers. We pray in the name of Jesus, that you will heal our broken bodies, relationships, emotions, city, and situations. We believe you have power to move in this place and can change any and every situation. We pray for our faith to rise up and for our prayers to reach your ears. We pray that you have heard, and the breakthrough is happening now. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
