Favor Is On Your Side
Favor means blessings (Deuteronomy 33: 16). God has many blessings in store for your life. Count the blessings you have now and do not worry about what others have and what you don’t have. Recognize that God has blessings in store for you. The blessings can be a house, a car, a relationship like marriage or having children, healing, or protection. Blessings come in different shapes and sizes.
Favor means answered prayers. When the Israelites made a golden calf they broke the commandment of God that we should have no other gods before Him. God was going to wipe out the Israelites, but the word of God says Moses “you have favor with me” (Exodus 33: 12). Moses pleaded to God won’t you lead us? God heard Moses prayer and did not eradicate the people, but went with them. The same with us God can show us favor and answer the prayer we have been pleading to God about and He can show us mercy.
Favor can be shown to you and me through people. God can use people to show you favor. Potiphar showed Joseph favor and Boaz looked at Ruth with favor. There are people in your life - your boss, co-worker, spouse, parents, siblings, and friends - who God can use to show you favor. God uses these people to bless you, promote you, and elevate you. Choose to respect, honor, and treat others in your life well because God can use them to show you favor.
Finally, favor means grace. God shows us favor by showing us mercy and compassion. Truth be told we don’t deserve God’s favor, but we get it anyways. God showed Manasseh favor when he turned from his evil ways and repented before God (2 Chronicles 33: 12). No matter how many mistakes we have made, no matter how deep our sin is, God will show us favor when we repent (turn away from sin) and ask for His forgiveness.
For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. - 2 Corinthians 6: 2
